A talk by Dr. Reza Aslan titled "Religion, Politics, and Literature in the Middle East" at Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon, USA on March 3rd, 2011.
As tension rises and conflict escalates and new wars declared it is now more crucial than ever that Westerners, and United States citizens in specific, listen to the Muslim perspective. For far too long white christian corporate media pundits, politicians, and other social authorities have been explaining world affairs exclusively from the perspective of John Doe from the US of A, and to be honest John Doe is pretty naive; it is going to be guys like Reza Aslan who will be promoting world peace.
I was there as well, (the hijabi in b lue w/ the flower...) and we got front row seats because my husband and I think Reza Aslan is awesome. The lecture was great. Dr.Aslan is insightful and brilliant.
Excellent job PCC...I received more information of the Middle East from this interview than CNN and Fox combined, especially Fox.
