  • @ateamga, did you say this is pointless? May I ask to whom is this pointless? So unless one can learn the whole of 250 languages it is pointless to learn one? Well.... Up to 400 languages are spoken in India. And I am proud to speak one of them. I don't think it is pointless either.

  • Yoruba ni swag!! =)

  • @ateamga there may be 250 groups or whatever, but there are only 5 languages spoken, one of which is English. Don't comment misleading information stupid. And to say most Nigerians do not speak Yoruba is also misleading. So please just stop

  • wa da fun o omo dada. sho ma femi no

  • girl you too try but you need to get more protection in naija, not cos it violent but cos u need it and if u gonna do more live in lagos not ibadan but tombs up girl love you spirit.......keep it up

  • @DreamOfTurtles it is a beautiful language and whats more it is a very spiritual language, we speak in PROVERBS a lot.. EVERYTHING HAS A PROVERB, and we have deep prayers in the language, we have ancestral praise in the language, its a language i appreciate now much more than when i was younger as i now do not take it for granted most yoruba dont understand the precious jewel that we have in our hands, our language cannot die and it was never taken out by the whiteman.. we thank GOD for that.

  • @aitan844

Another thing: I see all the time people descended from Europeans learn their "original" languages... Doesn't someone with African ascendants want to do the same ?! Why not?! Yoruba is a *tonal* language...That, in and of itself puts it into a totally different league. How many tonal languages are there still around *today*?! Besides, Yoruba sound beautiful.

  • @aitan844 True that. There ain't many resources online...And the fact that *writing* Yoruba in most computer operating systems is a PITA doesn't help.

Anyways, why don't "diaspora blacks" learn about their roots? My long-term objectives language wise is Russian, German, Japanese and Yoruba. Why? Because I decided I had to learn some African language. When I learned Yoruba was tonal, I flipped out! Yoruba is a language that sounds - to me - so absolutely beautiful! One day, I will learn Yoruba!

  • wonders shall never end oooo

  • It's not silly that Nigerians are going crazy over this..... It's RARE! They don't see this everyday and it makes them excited that the whites want to learn their language. How many whites do you see speaking yoruba? Plleeeease tell me. Stop complaing...people who complain about everything just- what's wrong with you all? goodness.

  • @flowers2127 its not silly , we would like to see diaspora blacks also learn our languages but sadly they dont consider our languages to be worthy they prefer to boast about speaking european languages such is the brainwashing out there..

  • @babYDOLL908 oops that was bad , they forgot to do that ! lol!
