This video, taken from http://www.fortwildernessrr.com, shows a very rare look at the Fort Wilderness Railroad. This attraction, which operated at Walt Disney World's Fort Wilderness from 1974 to 1979, provided an internal transportation loop for the campground and River Country. Visit the wonderful site linked above for more details.
Disapointed to hear the train is no longer there. Been to Disney World many, many, many times and stayed at several of their hotels before but never been to Fort Wilderness. My wife and I are "thinking" about taking our pop up camper there and just staying at Fort Wilderness (not doing any of the parks) for a few days.

Very nice!! Wish we knew the name of the original photographer!! For those interested, I just completed a new Disney book on the Fort Wilderness Railroad story. It's available on-line.....Forum rules prohibits me from posting the URL...

I LOVE this! I rode this train all the time when my family went and stayed at Ft.Wilderness one week. I think I was 10 or 11 yrs. I would ride this train around and around. I think I even took it over to River Country. I wish they would bring it back. It fits better with the theme of the campground. Back in the day when parents could let their kids ride without supervision and not worry about them.
