PIOUS AND BLIND
In this age of confusion
go beyond disillusion,
look for qualitative change;
to rely on tradition
seems like vague superstition,
seems like suicidal faith
Feeling so obsessed by time
tried to find something new
in every day I lose until I die,
I'm not waiting on salvation,
won't invalidate my life
Today I believe
I've got a card up my sleeve,
I've got a path to follow for life
because there's truth in humanity;
retaining your sanity
in spite of the trials of these times.
Our new gods are cigarettes
and heroin and TV sets,
religion is something practiced every day:
we're so pious and blinded
and we've got to break away.
There's something like a sense of pride
in finding yourself yearning
for a lesson that's enduring past today:
we're so pious and blinded
and we've got to break away.
