This footage of Luther Lassiter is from the Legends Tournaments held in the early 80's. The event featured "Wimpy", Willie Mosconi, "Cowboy" Jimmy Moore, Minnesota Fats, and many more.

  • @johnnyfin1 ok, cliff thorburn came to my college back in the early 90's ......he let people volunteer and play him...my one italian buddy who was a good pool player went up against him, got one shot, didn't sink anything and then sat there while Cliff put every ball in the pockets.

  • @johnnyfin1 thanks. you seem to know yur stuff. One question, hope u might know this, has there ever been an amazing Canadian?

  • @johnnyfin1 wow, didn't know that. so willie moscone was the real deal?

  • @quincee33 both really good pool players. I think Moscone was better though.

  • Wimpy was my cousin. No shit. My name is Shane Lassiter. I'm from NC as well. He and my grandfather were first cousins.

  • who was better minnesota fats or willie moscone? in yur opinion.

  • cool man:)

  • i have two copies of that book lol. what was his name? (your grandpas)

  • I saw Lassiter play in the U.S. Open in Chicago. "Wimpy" was still a great pool player well into his sixties.

  • My grandpa and Wimpy Lassiter were best friends and grew up together in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. They played pool almost every day and all the time. My grandpa could beat Wimpy about half the time and Wimpy would beat my grandpa the other half. My dad spent many a Saturday watching them play pool as he grew up. My grandpa died in 2005 but an author came to visit him right before he died and used my grandpa to write the book Hustler Days about three great pool players. Wimpy=Greatest ever
