He also explains how recommendation engines in general work, from Pandoras expert-knowledge approach (their Music Genome project) to Amazons and Apples collaborative filtering approach, to his own companys algorithmic and aggregated knowledge approach to the same problem. He also discusses the future of recommendation software, and how Echo Nest is working to empower listeners to remix, overdub, and edit online music as they listen to it based on the output of their recommendation engine.
