"Biomedical Informatics and Technology: UCSD Leading the Way" by Lucila Ohno-Machado, Professor of Medicine; Chief, Division of Biomedical Informatics, UCSD
Healthcare is changing dramatically in the next few years due to advances in informatics, technology, and policy. UCSD is uniquely positioned to set current and future trends in combining biomedical sciences, computer science, and several other disciplines into an integrated center of excellence in biomedical informatics and technology. In this presentation, Dr. Ohno-Machado will outline the main initiatives in quality care, research, and training that make UCSD an ideal place for the development and implementation of transformative initiatives. She will describe the impact of a recent organized effort towards developing a National Center for Biomedical Computing at UCSD aimed at bridging the 'Scientific Computing Divide'.
