OMG, this show was on fire again -- those were the days thanks in large part to Douglas Marland's grand vision -- but the cast was just so perfect also. They had just started the classic Douglas Cummings murder mystery which heavily involved our beloved Kathryn Hays.
Wrong! The P&G ident was first introduced on February 14, 1985, on "Another World". It was then introduced on "As the World Turns" in Fall 1985, on "Search for Tomorrow" on February 26, 1986, and on "Guiding Light" in Fall 1986 (probably when they updated their title sequence).
PS: The logo is available in both short and long versions, but the short version is the most common.
btw, i just watched the end of the new years' day 1986 episode of atwt, and it doesn't have the p&g ident, but earlier i saw the end of a "search for tomorrow" episode from 1986, so it wasn't until 1986 when the p&g ident was introduced
I saw the this episode when CBS reran it in 2002 and I wondered why the end credits were so different. The credits scrolled over the familiar globe at the end, but the credits were in the format of the current title sequence credit format (I didn't know at the time as I never got to see the end credits for the current opening until last year), but the music was also edited.
So ATWT did have a christmas ending for this christmas and CBS edited because of the voice-over, I understand now.
From what I found out on an ATWT website, this show started using the Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc. logo at the end of the credits, starting in Fall 1985. How come there's no P&G logo on the closing credits from the 80s that you upload?

Maybe they forgot to add the logo on the New Year's Day 1986 ATWT episode.

well, how come the new years' day 1986 episode of "as the world turns" did not have the p&g indent then?
