  • Eh? She only starts half way through.

  • This recitation by memory is only selected portions of Horatius at the Bridge.

  • I'd like to actually see more of these on Youtube, There are very few good classical recitations by memory by Children. If anyone would like to send me a link to one, that would be super.

  • Fantastic! Years ago, this sort of thing was part of a good education. I seem to remember that Winston Churchill in his memoirs writing that, as a boy, he had to memorize and recite this very same poem. Personally I wouldn't be able to recite three or four lines. YouTube needs more poetry! It could also do with audio readings of some of the more beautiful prose, too.

  • im learning this in school all the way through and she started about half

  • You get five stars just for doing the reading. Serious, you rock!

This is a great lay and one that should be remembered. It is the basis for the classic "Last Stand" and "None Shall Pass" motif / themes in modern literature.

    Gandalf! Horatius!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you. An epic lay by Lord Macaulay. Wonderful.
