actually it's more dangerous as you become too stick thin. Your body doesn't get the nourishment it needs to give you the endurance and stamina needed for pointe work. I agree that being overweight is a huge disadvantage and dangerous, but it's not uncommon to have size 3/4 dancers who are really good at what they do. They may not look as good in a tutu, but it doesn't take away from their talent
stunning!!! i love that they are stick thin!! ballet is for everyone, regardless of size, passion doesn't discriminate..and at the end of the day, unless you are hugely overweight that its dangerous to be on pointe, if you have the passion for dance and ballet, that matters!! plus i think they looked beautiful!!!!
You don't know anything about ballet!!!!!Ballet is not for those who are thin but for those who feel it and express the passion for it!!!Maybe somebody who is a little bit fat,the passion and the energy that he expresses make him gorgeous!!!!So,if you don't know certain things, shut up!!!!!
well you're probably anorexic too. !!! and what's with all the exclamation marks...the woman who commented on this movie was a professional dancer who's probably been dancing longer than you. She was merely commenting on the fact that it's too focused around an unhealthy form of perfection or anorexia, and I completely agree, because that is not where beauty lies. It's in the expression like you said, but the art form has been clouded by a superficial image for years.
The idea that starvation is beautiful. That's just shallow honey, not artistic, or passionate. If they looked healthy than it'd been easier to watch, but the skinny factor is not where beauty lies. I'm sorry you're wrong. So shut your mouth.
