The SMG(s) will continue to fire (sound) when in Forge.
Shoot a single SMG or dual wield and shoot two SMGs and then press "UP" on the D-pad to turn into the Guilty Spark bot. The location where you were standing will continue to make the sound of SMG(s) shooting. Everyone in the game when this is done will hear the sound. Those who join the game afterwards will not hear the sound.
As long as you stay as the bot the sound willl continue indefinitely. You do not have to keep holding onto the trigger and can go on and do anything you would do normally.

You can do this on halo reach with a jetpack, and the two light things will still be floating and making a jetpack noise.

You can do that also with the AIE-486H Heavy Machine Gun. Wait a while, delete some items, and it will produce "ghost" shots. It's the same method that people use for the bubble shield ghost and grenade ghost.
