The Infamous Flint Rabbit

This is a short clip from a Documentary called Roger and Me made a while back about Flint, Michigan. Its pretty gruesome so if you are squeamish I would not watch it, I had trouble editing it out!

you're really supposed to dress animals as soon as possible after they are slaughtered.

Eh, no big deal really. I used to raise rabbits for meat and show when I was a kid. To answer some questions about "beating the rabbit in the head", rabbits have a weak spinal cord where it attaches to the brain. To properly and humanely kill a rabbit, you strike it with a blunt object (the pipe in this scenario), and then the rabbit is dead.

It's normal for animals to twitch when they die, and that's all this rabbit is doing. It's just muscles reacting to the brain being disconnected.

I think this was my favorite part of the movie, lol. I've had rabbit before, and it's actually not bad. Never understood why people keep them as pets though. I feel sad for the rabbits that live in those cramped cages. In the wild they don't usually castrate each other, but living in those cages makes them anxious, and just drives them crazy. Similar things happen to most other animals kept in cramped spaces (pigs, chickens, turkeys, etc...). Sometimes they even turn cannibalistic.
