Students in the US, Kenya and Uganda have for years been a major force in global advocacy to strengthen health systems in Africa.
On July 29, 2008, US President George Bush signed into law a new 5 year global AIDS plan. Students in the US, Kenya and Uganda have been strong advocates for some of policies now in the plan.
These new policies, most notably an effort to train 140,000 new health workers, are a testament to the powerful voice of health professional students, such as the ones who made these videos for World AIDS Day 2007.
