Catwoman Details from The Dark Knight Rises

SPOILERS! Even worse, Batman spoilers...well, a little one.

Hey movie buffs, Joshua Ovenshire here filling in for Tatiana Carrier with Clevver Movies and I'm here to finally defend Anne Hathaway who will be playing Catwoman in the Dark Knight Rises next summer. Today, hero Complex released a story about a scene they able to get a sneak peak at from Rises that really shows off the feline anti-hero.

It was described to us as an anxiety filled scene where a bunch of Gotham citizens are being held hostage as one last prisoner is brought in. Once the hood is removed, we see none other than Bruce Wayce absolutely helpless. Then from the top of a stair case we see her, Catwoman in full garb, emphasis on the stilletos with edges capable of leaving a good scratch. After a few lines we are fully aware that Catwoman means business in Nolan's final installment on his Batman trilogy.

Since day one, of Anne Hathaway being announced to play Selina Kyle, people have been way to weary on if she can pull it off. Me, I KNEW she could pull it off. And with this scene and what we've all been teased with in the trailer, Anne pulls off this character flawlessly. See, Catwoman is more than just a character, she's a persona. And one thing Hathaway does well as an actress is she does a great job projecting a good persona. Christopher Noloan, saw this and new it would be a perfect match.

She described Heith Ledger's performance as the Joker chaotic, though, always had a grace about him. And that grace can be found throughout Gotham. Especially in Catwoman. She goes on to say:

"There's a lot of belief and codes of behavior in Gotham and my character has one, too. A lot of the way she moves and interacts with people is informed by her worldview."

Nolan knows how to write a good character, and they'll be plenty there for Hathaway to work with.

Then there's the outfit. I'll admit, in the beginning it just reminded me of the outfit in the 1970's tv show. Just kinda there. But I was happy to hear that I was very wrong. She said in an interview,

"I love the costume because everything has a purpose, nothing is in place for fantasy's sake, and that's the case with everything in Christopher Nolan's Gotham City."
She even has these goggles, that when not in use, flip up to resemble cat ears. Meow.

But to all of you nay sayers still doubting this casting choice. Just remember these words, In Nolan we trust. Anee Hathaway will be a fine addition to the women who have portrayed the feline vixen like Lee Meriwether, Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar, and my favorite Michelle Pheiffer...wait...who? Halle Berry? No no, that didn't happen. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

at this point i don't care cause nolan has screw all of the batman characters so it doesn't matter who plays the character if they are not even gonna be like in the comics

Batman Begins is good and The Dark Knight is great. TDKR at least will be good. Let's give it a chance then we all can judge if Anne is a good catwoman or not. Who knows she will give us surprise...

You lost any credit when you chose the flat out corny @ss Cat-woman as your favorite adaptation. Those are the kind of characters that stigmatized the comic book genre to Hollywood for so long.

I'm a little worried. On one hand I think that if you are going to play as a masked character your secret identity shouldn't be anything like your persona so people won't suspect and nobody would suspect her at first glance.

On the other, it's not that Hathaway is a bad actress I just never really get into her characters. Half the time i don't bother to even remember their names. I just see them as Anne Hathaway's character.

I'm just going to trust Nolan and see what happens.
