I don't know where they come from.
I don't know how they survive.
But they DO exist.
And they are NOT afraid of you.
(A note about the "Presidential Pardon" reference: every year the President of the United States "pardons" the turkey scheduled to be eaten at the White House Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey is then sent to live on display in a farm where, having been bred for food, it soon dies from its own bloated excess)
you should punch one in the face and see what it does

I've been to Seaview Hospital more than a few times over the years. I've always found the turkeys to be interesting and even comforting to watch. They are a fun part of Staten Island and I hope someone is looking out for them.

The turkeys of Staten Island are beautiful! Protect the turkeys! They have a right to survive and live just as we do. Thank goodness they are protected.

Not anything of the sort. These birds arrived here because some over-zealous NYC fireifghters brought them to the state property at south beach psychiatric center and they procreated to the now 150+ population which is causing damage and a health problem for the neighborhoods surrounding the hospital. Not funny that these birds have it better than the taxpayers of this "DUMP" of a Rock! Thanks Molinari / O

Not Awesome and Not A Joke! The Only "joke" is that these birds have more clout than we do. I have never seen such a mess in all my travels around this city. Molonaro and his cronies should be ashamed, this is a health hazard to the residents of this area. WE ARE SO Screwed!

These are some of the wild animals that you see grazing here in Staten Island. There are many others you don't see much of here in our woodlands-deer,pheasants, rabbits, woodchucks, skunks, hawks, raccoons, but with developments going up,the animals are being relocated, and killed. The turkeys do very well here-they can be found in most towns on the island. They are very well adapted to society.Nice video.

This was a really great video that you shot! I do think it's a little sad that these animals were obviously pushed out of their roost or habitat. Maybe due to development? Anyways, I think it's great...just in time for national turkey day!!!
