My heart breaks for you. Whenever I needed a lift I would listen to Omi sing and it always made me smile. I read about his illness and hoped and prayed he'd get better. He truly was a gift to all of us. Thank you for sharing him.

Just an FYI regarding Eclectus and plucking... I just found this out last weekend... Eclectus parrots can get 'candida albicans' easily, it is a yeast infection. And seems to cause plucking in many of them. It seems that many vets overlook this and the birds are not diagnosed. One of the other symptoms is that their breath has a sour/yeast smell. Just wanted to share this info.

It sounds like 'Rodriguez - Sugar man' to me. Listen to 1:03 it sounds like the line "Coz I'm tired of these scenes"
Awesome bird, I would give Kirsten from eclectusparrotbreeders creature comforts website a call and ask for advice re the feather plucking.
It is usually caused by something in their environment, not enough new toys or similar.
Try giving him lots of things to pull apart (branches with leaves and such) to take his mind off plucking his feathers.

i think he's saying... "Rich....." as like a warning to one of her boy's named Richard or somethine. VERY CUTE! sounds like a woman's voice (parrot-style) this's so ADORABLE!

He sounds like a 1950's singer on the radio. So cute!
thank you for all your kind comments. Omi has been diagnoses with PBFD. He is doing well so far. Did not have him tested until I adopted another ekkie who became ill with PDD. Omi showed exposure to PDD but not active disease. No telling how or when he developed this disease. He is better feathered now., He was almost bald as you could see when I first got him. He has been feathered since 6 months after I adopted him. Word of Warning.....do not expose your birds to a new bird without vet check

Poor Bird? What makes you say that. He is one very happy little guy. If you are referencing his lack of feathers You obviously arent very familiar with a plucking bird. Unfortunately WE have taken them out of nature and put them in cages for our enjoyment. It is inhumane to throw them back now when they know no other. Best we can do is give them attention and freedom from cages as much as possible. In nature they dont have time to pluck. Looking for food and fear of predators. Think about it!

HOW PRECIOUS! I just added this to my favorites for when I need to smile, I can just go and listen to Omi the next American Idol! And he is just beautiful, he is chewed up just like my baby Kiwi! :o) I never realized this was so common in these amazing birds but it makes no difference, I love my Kiwi so much, feathers or no feathers! He is so funny, he's finally starting to talk but not when anyone is looking! Congratulations on having such a wonderful little green angel!

IThanks for your response. I now take him to work at the feed store on saturdays. He really enjoys it. Last week he asked a lady if she wanted to take a bath. She really didnt know what to say.

I spoke with the previous owner. She used to sing the "Bear Song" to him. Many years ago when her boys were young. She thinks maybe he has put several songs together. He listens to the Disney channel all day on TV. I guess I have to stay home from work and see what he is watching.
