Same plane, but returning back to Detroit from Chicago. Weather delays meant that I was in the Chicago O'Hare terminal for all of 5 minutes before heading back to DTW.
N8928E was one of the oldest aircraft still flying, having been continually in service since 1967, starting with Eastern Airlines, then serving with Northwest and finally, Delta. I was lucky enough to get a flight on this aircraft from Detroit to Chicago and back again on August 4, 2010. I documented nearly the whole flight for historical purposes, as this frame was one of the very last of the DC-9-30s to remain in operation with a major carrier in the USA.
This is a Delta Air Lines flight. The plane was still wearing Northwest colors.
Today this aircraft is a pile of scrap. It was destroyed for recycling and parts not long ago. What a sad fate for such a beautiful plane.
