The ACTUAL reason for kicking the valve is because it is the hardest part on the ball. Because of this it is more powerful and if you place the valve parallel with the ground it will travel more in that direction which is why once the ball goes over the wall it either goes straight or dips.

@Averagebum2 the valve is probably the same as the hole.. and air should just "slide" from the side of the ball and not to get into it (into valve) so it don't slow down the ball.. actually i don't know how to explain it but it is true and really helps!
