. The montage was supposed to suggest that the two surviving characters were altered by the ants creating the next step in evolution for humanity and insects.

Many of the images from the altered conclusion of the film appear in the trailer and although it has recently been released to home video by Legend Films, the reissue on DVD features the shorter U.S. version which had 9 minutes stripped from the film before its official U.S. debut.

Fantastic clip. No if only someone could track down the alternate ending than we could see if it's really as cool as the trailer makes it look.

Fantastic, underrated science fiction film from 1974. Incredible photography, good story, fine performances, and hypnotic direction from Saul Bass. The electronic music score is a major plus too. A cult classic. British actress Lynne Frederick is beautiful and can pass for Olivia Hussey's sister as well. Thank you for this cool posting DIOTD2008.

You are more than welcome lionheart3419.
This was, and still is, a fantastic flick. Completely underrated then and now.
A film like this wouldn't even be considered in this day and age..and NOW is the time where an audience could be found for it.
