Song: Gary Jule's Cover of "Mad World"
Pictures and Video are all original from before and after the hurricane
St. Bernard, Louisiana

I tried my best to match up pictures with words :) A bit hard when pre hurricane pictures are scarce ;)

note: the "crack" at the beginning is me stepping on dried mud; the second footage and pictures surrounding that footage was taken during evacuation on August 28, 2005

  • That. Was. Amazing......Im so sorry you had to go through that....

  • From far away in Colorado, this breaks my heart.

I used to live in Chalmette, sort of near the old Kaiser Aluminum plant. I had many dear and lovely friends there. What a sweet place, and what lovely people. My love to you all.

  • Wonderful editing job. Even if I wasn't also from New Orleans, I would have understood exactly where you were coming from. My family lucked out with regards to damage on our home, but my second home(school), Mount Carmel, in Lakeview, was very damaged and it broke my heart. You have my sympathy. Hope y'all do okay.

  • this just makes me cry. THOSE ASIAN GIRLS WERE MY BEST FRIENDS! ever...

i miss this. all of it.

  • Still hard to watch. even though my family and I moved close to Baton Rouge, it still feels like yesterday when I think of what we lost. What hurts more is when I hear from people that I "deserved" it because I chose to live in a low-lieing area.

  • Beautiful! I am really touched even at this two years later.

  • i live 45 minutes from new orleans lafourche parish and we were blessed with not that bad damage.we stayed home.we couldn't believe what happened until we went ride and see.i'm glad your doing better and may god bless you.
