You're actually fucking retarded. Getting a degree doesn't make you middle class... have you heard of loans before? Here I'll explain - based on your household income, you are financed for your degree with 0% interest. If your income is less than £30k then you get more than enough (including bursaries) to live off comfortably.

Try not to generalise, it makes you look like a moron. And I had to laugh at the 10 thumbs up you've received from equally retarded muppets.

Yeah crime is by its very nature bad and immoral, cause the law is my morality and that. What expenses to marijuana users incur out of interest?

Haha, I do love some awful wordplay!

Very true though. It will be interesting to see what happens, especially any potential conflicts between states where the status of drugs differ as they undoubtedly would across the home nations and also how the American experience compares with the confict we have seen as a result of there being that small island of legalisation in the form of the Netherlands.

As bad as the state is, personally I would buy my fags and alcohol from licensed stores. Though I have some idea of how bad the counterfeit equivalents can be. Its a fair point though, as often the biggest risk in buying alcohol for example is that the product being sold in a licensed store may actually be counterfeit anyway.

All in all though I do think that legalisation and there being at least some level of control is preferable to the current situation, but certainly its not black and white.

The real barrier to legalisation as far as I can make out is the status of these drugs in other countries and the consequences any legalisation inside the UK would have outside the UK.

This is very true and a primary reason for young people being so likely to smoke stuff like marijuana or even take ecstasy, speed etc and I speak from my own experience here.

I think this is another reason for legalisation and combined with the fact that though its easy to get hold of drugs, even in your quaint hillock it is almost certainly very difficult to find any that havent been tampered with, dealers adding potentially harmful additives to bulk out the product at the expense of users.

It is admittedly a difficult subject, but especially for soft drugs I am fairly certain that the vast majority of users would choose legal outlets due to the greater certainty of getting a product that has not been tampered with in the shocking way that the vast majority of drugs currently sold are.

To be honest enforcement and cost issues should be the smaller part of the reason for legalisation with health making up the majority. Legal, regulated drugs would be far less harmful than current

    This is true.

I never said counterfeiting and bootlegging doesn't go on. I never said it would remove ALL revenue from criminal gangs, just a sig. amount. However your logic dictates that Alcohol and Tobacco should be illegal. The counterfeiting and bootlegging would be no more or less with soft drugs like marijuana. The majority sold would have been subject to taxation, regulations and would have passed through licensed retailers.

The benefits of legalisation still outweigh the points you make.
