@NMbarrassment they got a lot of money, but ended up in a federally funded bankruptcy, they have since paid back a lot of the money. We still own a large percentage of GM and are in the process of selling our remaining stake, we own 5% of Chrysler but we're giving it to FIAT once they build a 40mpg car in the US.

This is bullshit. You want the bailout, sell half the jets and cut your salary down by 90% first.

I'll argue that government bailout actions are actually tempering with the free market competition mechanism. The bailouts for such gigantic corporations are especially arguably promotions of monopoly.

Making a few cuts, like closing plants, laying off over 50,000 workers? They arrive in Washington in private jets, and have salaries of $20,000,000+, and have the balls to ask the american taxpayers for 25 billion of our tax money, and you tell us to have some respect? If they want my respect, then tell them to give back some of their salaries to the companies they run, get rid of that private jet fleet, and start using the airlines like the rest of us. They're no better that the rest of us.
