Since April 2007, all military personnel who have lost their lives on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan are repatriated through RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire, which is near Wootton Bassett, and around 1,000 people in the town regularly line the streets paying their respects to the funeral corteges of fallen personnel coming from the air base. To date over 170 Service personnel have come home to the UK through Wootton Bassett.
