Video Documentation of Strings, 2009. By Myrto Karanika and Jeremy Keenan.
Strings investigates bidirectional relations between space and bodily expression, through a combination of soft technologies and traditional art practices like weaving and embroidery. The fusion of gestural, computational, weaving and musical strings sets the ground for a bidirectional relation of affect between the audio-haptic features of the installation and the users engagement with them. Peoples performed gestures on the textile generate sonic output, constructed from a series of touched nodes of conductive thread and perceived in Arduino, MAX/MSP & Csound as strings of coordinates.
