@grafikbunkerDE With the OEM and the regular whisper fans, your xbox tells the fans to speed up and slow down according to the processors' temperature. If you installed your whisper "max" fans through the 12v DVD Drive's power supply, you voided this system. Your fans will not speed up according to the motherboard's needs and will result in the RRoD sooner.
The only way to prevent this is to run in "nitro mode" at all times, which sucks power from your DVD Drive causing motherboard overwork!

its only 7% quieter but 42% more flow and it looks bad ass, so does quieter really matter that much?

mine is pluged in the 12 v cause of rrod so yah my whisper fans whispers fucking loud...XD

i got the whisper max legacy today and i must say the Nitro switch is so loud = unplayable (i get directly into brain). The cable for switching is really low quality and directly broke so i put it out again. Whisper Fans legacy without Nitro are much quieter then DC Fans ! (i´m very happy to watch now divx Movies in a quiet room !) but i believe "Nidec Fan" User will not have it much more silent ! so you should check your fans before buying. for DC a great upgrade just kick the nitro ;)

Hey I just got the Whisper Fans and am having your same problem: too loud. Now, I see the Whisper MAX fans on many other people's systems running silently, any word on those that you know of?

I ordered a set of Whisper MAX fans and they were much quieter than these fans. However they are NOT quieter than stock 'Nidec' fans.
