Can one take one's art too far? Artist Jerry Wennstrom found he'd turned his art into worship and his identity. He'd mastered inspiration in his art studio ("inspiration blew out the known!), but not fully in life.

Here he talks to "Being in Seattle" host Rosemary Broccoli about his extraordinary decision to destroy his art, give up his known life and live life innocently. He had many lessons about ego and "trust," and Wennstrom describes an edgy encounter he had with a gang he invited up to see his studio. (The story is related in greater detail in his book.)
See http://www.handsofalchemy.com to see more of Jerry's artwork (both old and new), read sample chapters and essays, see his workshop schedule, and more.
