They had the common sense not to stick to the two stroke engine, like DAF did to the variomatic. It gave the company an added life span of 40 years and some of the best cars ever build.

Such a pity they're gone for ever now.

But who wants to buy what nowadays are basically just souped up an overpriced Opels in times of economic crisis?

Spyker needs to do a retro entry level model----patterned after the 96. Make it very basic (like the original) with an economical, reliable 4 cylinder engine----keep it around 20K in the U.S.----offer a few quirky colors along with the usual red, white, black, silver-----and they couldn't build enough of them----and their brand would find a new life in the U.S.

My Saab 96 was the nicest car I ever had.

Now I am wating delivery of a Saab 9-3 ttid sportswagen. I just hope that Spyker and Antonov and so on sort out the financial issues,
