Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. No matter how uneducated. But to all the individuals making the distasteful and derogatory remarks about Burbank PD and all Police Departments, This is not the place for it. This video was created for an individual who sacrificed his life enforcing the law. The gangmember that took his life was evil and deserves all this hate and anger. Please be respectful of what this page is for. Take your ignorance towards law enforcement elsewhere.

@sixstringpsyco incompetence of his partner?, I didn't know it was his partners fault that two gangsters pull a gun out on both of them. Why the hell would you blame his partner. You should blame the guys you shot both of them. I can't believe that in todays society people blame the police for everything. I didn't know that his partner could control those two gangsters.

I played Simi Valley Vikings football with Matt back in the day. It was not until years later that I read about his death. I know it is 7 years later, but my prayers go out to his family and the families of all law enforcement officers. Matt was a great kid, and I was proud to have shared the field with him.
8-0 undefeated.

I wore badge # 84 before it was handed to Officer Pavelka after my retirement. I'm sorry I did not get to meet him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones. Rest in Peace.
this fine officer didnt have to die...if you do a little checking you will find he died due the incompitence of his partner...an officer with a bad reputation for incompitence...RIP my friend...you didnt have to die

What do you know that the Burbank Leader or L.A. Times didn't? My son graduated with him in High School. He WAS a great guy. Another way of presenting Matt's Tribute was long overdue.
