The light weight Buck Bantam BHW folding knife is excellent in role. The question is, what is the role of this somewhat large, non spring assisted blade? With a 3 5/8" 420 HC stainless steel blade, thermoplastic handle, mid-lockback, a nice lanyard hole, and some fair jimping on top and bottom, this knife has it's limits, but also plenty of strengths. After a period of every day carry, I chose to place this knife into a "field utility" role. I now use it for hiking, camping, shooting excursions, and other outdoor activities where a pricier EDC blade might be in jeopardy of getting lost or damaged. I highly recommend the Buck Bantam BHW for use in this role, and I'm certain that if you put it in the same role it will serve you well. I forgot to mention that it also makes a great ice breaker when closed, and I don't mean a conversation piece. Wrap your thumb over the top and you can quickly smash up a bag of ice with the base of the handle; the other party goers will thank you for your foresight! With such a low price, and so many uses, why not pick one up?

  • does it have a clip?

  • @wtftizmasta11 It does; right hand, tip down carry. I removed it.

  • what kind of oil do you use??

  • @JackTheWeazel Just some CLP (cleaner, lubricant, protectant) that came with a gun cleaning kit. I don't recall the brand. Anything that says CLP on it will probably work great.

  • did you get the knife recently? and is it made in the U.S.A.? If so, does it have terrible blade play? my first one was super tight, but when i sent it back and got a new one, the lock up was super loose. great vid

  • I've had it for probably 8 or 10 months, and no, there's no blade play at all. Mine was made in China too, so that's kind of discouraging that the higher quality specimen wasn't made in the US. Then again, yours is the BLW. I wonder if that could make a difference.

  • I got one in my backpack all the time, opened it once at work unpacking a brand new server chassis, my boss freaked out on me when he saw that thing.

  • it's kind of weird, i bought one of these knives and on the blade it says U.S.A. but my friend bought the exact same knife from the same store and the usa engraving is replaced with a small china mark.

  • I was given one of these today as a token of appreciation from a customer I delivered a load to. He has them with his company name on them for swag. What a great gift! This will make a great all purpose trucking knife. I strip wires, cut strapping and generally beat the shit out of my edc knife.

    Great review

  • Very accurate review.

I found it in a tourist/hobby shop in Sparta.

It was a set with the nano model all for €20.

    Very nice prise for europe.

Its the first time a see reviews on things I ALREADY OWN. Its because I am so surprised by the quality of this cheap little knife. I dont know if the plastic grip can hold abuse but for a utility back up i think its perfect.

I placed it in my tool box.

  • is it made in the U.S

  • @MrJumbolegz The new ones are now made in the USA.

  • hahahaha you made me lol with the sheep ppl remark jus tht deserves thumbs up n subscribe alone :) cheers for the lolzzz

  • the bantams are great but i always hated knowing it was chinese

  • Total Thumbs Up!! Great video!! I've been eyeballing the Buck Bantam BHW, and after watching this video I think that my initial instincts were correct. Great knife for the price. Maybe not to carry on one's person, but perfect for the B.O.B. or tackle box or under the rear seat in the truck. I'm gonna go ahead and get myself one. Thanks again for a great video.

    Cheers,

  • I EDC a Byrd Cara Cara myself. That's a badass knife.
