Wander_Free_Forever, sick of Ubuntu and Mandriva takes a different approach. Gentoo, I have little to no hope for him. Compile a kernel? Good luck with that!
10 setup networking in the live env 20 mount your partition you want to install into to /mnt/gentoo, 30 download and extract the latest stage 3 tarbell there. 40 Chroot /mnt/gentoo, 50 update portage, get kernel sources 60 config and compile kernel 70 reboot, cross your fingers. 80 IF working GOTO END 90 bash your head against the wall 100 reenter the live env mount drives chroot 110 tweak the kernel config 120 IF not working > goto 90 END (See handbook for full details.
4noobs: He did not install gentoo, he just ran LiveDvD (you actually dont need to write anything, theres counter that will do it).
boot prompt: gentoo (liveDvD KDE boot) / gentoo nox (shell)
then he just confirmed Enter to use default layout (after 30 seconds it would be done anyway). I repeat, he did'n installed the shit, I could actually install it within 10 minutes after boot (without compiling UI thus). Thumbs down for this sh*t..
@darthirakli Gentoo is the one linux distro that gives me random headaches.
Some versions work and some don't. Just last week I spent three days trying to install a stage 3 version of gentoo but it kept refusing to boot (tried 6 times). However, just a month ago I had done the same installation with an older version and it worked fine.
Luckily for me, gentoo is updated frequently. So if there is a fatal bug in a gentoo stage3, it will be fixed next week.
@1shotatu true dat, noob isn't installing anything

@Krisando You can do it from LiveCD KDE, console > sudo su > commands.
Otherwise you write gentoo nox (no Xorg) instead of gentoo and then follow guide
