Ivasiuk was a Ukrainian songwriter who's songs were enjoyed throught the former USSR making him one if its most popular artists. Unfortunately after drawing attention from the KGB for expressing too many positive sentiments for his own native country, Ukraine, he was found hanged in a forest in 1979. The killers have never been brought to justice. On the 30th anniversary of your tragic departure from us Volodymyr, may you rest in peace, and may your songs be sung not just in Ukraine in Ukrainian but in every country and in every language where they find an audience.
