@Vaatrad I am mapping on Source engine 2009 TF2. And I am trying to make stairs but I can't get the inches on 8.0. How can I change this?

i cant make my blocks smaller than about a half the size of the Info_player_start block. so my stairs are always gigantic

im a noob mapper, how do I see exactly what the map looks like? I only see little see-thru boxes and lines that are all different colors.

If you can only see the wire-frame of brushes or solid colour instead of texture in the camera view your camera is in the wrong mode. Click on the word 'camera' in the top left of the camera view and select '3D Shaded Textured Polygons' from the menu.

If you are mapping for CS:S you can just use a brush with the invisible ladder texture on it. If you are mapping for another game say and I'll PM you a link to a tutorial.
