Plus the True Recumbent Bikes are for people who weigh more, I believe up to 300 pounds.. they are a better bike...

I have a True Z Recumbent Exercise bike.. my top so far is 303 calories in 20 minutes.. I love this bike.. 330 in 25.. I also go to the Park and jog up and down hills with my husky ... I want to get the Nordic Poles to do Nordic walking.. that way I use my arms more and it's a more full body exercise..

@123iisa Either is fine. It just depends on the resistance youre using. Thats where youre going to gain muscle. If you really want to gain muscle in your legs, use actual machines for leg exercise (if youre in a gym). Squats are always good.

@SuzysPaps i just had my first try on a recumbent bike todag. because of lower back problems it's my last resort to doing a cardio/pulse exercise. It was great! At first i used the middle of my food, but after 10min. i started feeling discomfort in my muscles sorrounding the knees. So i put the seat a click back, so i could extend my legs more, and then used the ball of the foot and that felt great. the pain was gone instantly and i could also feel that my calvfes were getting MUCH more workout.

would you please tell me what part of your foot should you be using to pedal? also is using regular tennis shoes ok? and should you or should you not use the strap to hold your foot in place? I would think the ball of the foot-my husband tells me he uses the middle part/arch of his foot & he is now having foot numbness & lower leg numbness. thanks so much!

@GregWn Yes, the feet-hitting-crank-arm thing was a minor problem for me at first. I found that it was the soles of my shoes sticking out a little... Now I ride without shoes, just a good pair of socks. Problem solved. The back of the seat is very comfortable - no problem with anything pressing through at all.

@NJLouis66 I find with the R3 I kept hitting the crank (rod extending between the machine and the pedal) with my foot. Has that ever been a probllem for you? I have also read that with fast cycling the metal rod the goes up the back of the seat will hurt by pressing thru to your back. Any input there? Thanks!!

If you need to burn more so start cycling it does get all the fat out fast than doing sit ups.
