Pastor Charles Stanley Sermon Notes:
"You Can Never Outgive God" From Oct 10-31-2010

A key question to ask concerning your money is, "How much can I give to God?". This is important to ask yourself.

People can get in many financial troubles for many reasons, including these things:

1. loss of income
2. mismanagement of money
3. failure to plan ahead
4. being disobedient to God

& if you lump all 4 of those reasons together, you have a major financial problem!

We must commit @ least 10% of all our money, & 10% of all our financial increase to God. But we must do it willingly, & cheerfully. Giving money to God is not about money, but all about trusting, honoring, loving, & obeying God. That is what giving is all about.

God does not need us for anything. He gave us these things to learn to trust, honor, love, & obey Him. So out of all your financial questions, you should ask, "How much, & how much more could I give to God?". These are extremely important to ask oneself!

Always remember no matter what, that You Can Never Out Give God! This is a basic principle of life, & being a principle, it can't be changed. We would be foolish to not give God what He requires, & what He asks. We would also be unwise to not ask the question, "If I have a need, how much more do I need to give Him?". This is also important. We can never match what God will do for us. It all boils down to whether we believe it, or not. The one, & only way we will be convinced of God giving us more, when we give Him more, is to try it. When we have a need, it's time to give more.

Luke 6:38

The question here is, "When we have a need, will we do as the world does, & scrape money, & manipulate circumstances, etc., or give more to God out of what little we may have?".

We should always ask God how we can apply all these principles of His teachings to our lives today, & every day continually.

Scriptural Teachings about Possessions:
1. God owns it all Psalm 50:12 ~ As Creator of all, He(God) owns every single things in all of Creation, & therefore has the right to give us direction as to how to use it.
2. We are managers ~ We are responsible to God as to how we manage our money, in addition to other things in our lives. People get in trouble when we consider money, & all things in our lives our own, & not belonging to God Luke 12:16-21.

If we are living outside of God's will for our lives, we are putting a block between ourselves, & God. Everything we own comes from God. If you have a need, remember to give back to God what He gave you. Everyone always has something to give. If we follow, & obey God, He will never allow us to give Him more than He will give us in return. We are never giving God anything He didn't 1st have.

Malachi 3:8-12 God wants us to trust Him, & see what will happen. When we give to Him, we are honoring, trusting, & being obedient towards Him.

2 Corinthians 9:7 If we hold onto things, God can't give us what He wants to give us. We are suppose to be cheerful, willing, givers.

3. Giving should be Joyful. ~ Cheerful, & happily. Thanking God that we have it to give.

Think about this: Most of us are richer than a lot of people in the rest of the world.

4. We are to give purposefully ~

Specific reasons to give:
4-1. To provide for His work ~ in every aspect of our lives
4-2. To prove His faithfulness ~ He wants us to test Him, to see what He will do for us.
4-3. To provide for the many needs of many others, like spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ as top priority, among many other things, like caring for the needy, homeless, food, clothing, etc.
4-4. To properly honor God ~ Haggai 1:5-7 We always need to ask God what He wants us to do w/ all our money, & stuff. We can not be wrapped up all in ourselves.

God's plan for giving to us:
1. His motivation is pure love.
2. His love for us is unconditional, but His blessings are not. ~ Violation of God's principles is disobedience towards God, & He can not bless us, but He always loves us.
3. Whether I enjoy God, & His blessings depends upon my obedience to Him. ~ God's will, & plan is to give us every single thing(not just money, but relationships, needs, desires, etc.) that fits only His will, purpose, & plans for our lives, conditioned upon our obedience to Him. That is God's commitment towards us. We come up short in things only by our own disobedience towards God. Living a Godly life is key.

If your life is a mess, or you are having difficulty, totally 100% surrender yourself, your life, & everything about your life(finances, relationships, etc.) to God. See what He does.
