@FortNikitaBullion it's because the system has idiots working in it. Let everyone eat the bad food and not take vitamins or healthy foods, and then guess what? These same people eating this bad food, get diabetes, heart problems and then the taxpayers pay the medical bills. If they would change it, it would save money in the long run.
@maari1016 The government won't even track what you buy with the food stamps, let alone your other income. I've seen people buy entire carts of soda, chips, TV dinners, etc, with food stamps. Why is it that you can buy a can of MSG or a bag of sugar (i.e., poison) but not a bottle of vitamin C with food stamps?
I think the logic is kind of backwards though; a lot of people probably end up on EBT because they can't understand sacrifices and being an adult. Maybe it should be a requirement for one to at least make an attempt at fixing their lifestyle if they want to be on EBT. I think we should definitely restrict food stamps to buying actual food, not junk food, not fast food. I have nothing against eating something tasty (which I do sometimes), but that's strictly entertainment, not nutrition.
At least iPhones generally don't harm or kill people. What bothers me infinitely more is when people take MY tax dollars and KILL themselves and their children buying JUNK FOOD with it. I'm very religious against any form of indirect murder, and it bothers me that everyday I have to go to work to murder welfare recipients.
THAAANK YOU!!!! especially when you were talking about them having cheap rent, i live in low income apartments i pay my rent on time and all of my bills most time i have to sacrifice luxuries so those bills get paid, meanwhile my neighboors have $50 rent, dont work and get drunk n high all day. If i make a little bit extra money my rent gets raised, how is this fair? these prgrams are deeply flawed and there needs to be a change
also my mother doesn't plan on living off food stamps forever, she is widowed and has no choice. I think the real problem is the government needs to track the spending habits of those on assistance. If it were a requirement less people might apply!

Well said. I've never been on welfare and I certainly can't afford an iphone. It's just not an essential item imo.
