A fun homemade robot-"Follow human robot"

The robot is very funny.You just put on a small equipment ,the robot will follow you all the time.It seems like a pet dog.If you buy something back and then put a basket on the robot,it can help you take your things back. In a robot competition,my robot won the Best Creative Award.

That's wonderful! How did you go about having it track a person? I think I see a sonar range finder and a mini camera. Motion detection by the camera and keeping a set range by the sonar? If so, what happens if the person leaves the field of view before the robot can respond to track?

I'd love to implement something like this on a larger platform at some point.
