2) Abolish ISA rally, Kuala Lumpur, 1 Aug 2009 - Masjid Jamek

Scores had been arrested at about 1pm outside Masjid Jamek. The street was almost deserted and Muslim men had gone inside the mosque as it was time for afternoon prayer. Police appeared to be expecting a crowd to emerge from the mosque after prayers and set about to trap those inside by cordoning the entrance. It was getting tense, with a police officer shouting "Reporter belakang" or something like that and started threatening the rest of us to leave. A few minutes later, a group from Central Market walked past the area, signalling that we were to walk to Sogo. Note the Special Branch in plainclothes walking among the police. It was also easy to spot those who were trying to blend in by wearing black - they were not chased off unlike the rest of us and could sit like a bird of prey waiting...also, they had DESIGNER sun shades.
