John's playing in this song just goes to show that a couple of well placed notes can absolutely complete a song. Kirk hammet or steve vai shredding away is cool, don't get me wrong, but in the end it's all about groove and composition. the real skill in guitar playing is taste, not necessarily technical ability, though sometimes they go hand in hand.
