King Charles II meets the man who tried to steal the Crown Jewels, Thomas Blood.

" Blood, that wears treason in his face,
Villain complete in parson's gown,
How much he is at court in grace
For stealing Ormond and the crown!
Since loyalty does no man good,
Let's steal the King, and outdo Blood! "
- John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester.

  • King Charles II looking kind a pale for a black prince.

  • @BashuUp Charles II was not black. He was nicknamed "Black Boy" because of his black hair and mediterranean complexion. His grandmother was Italian. He was just a bit darker skinned than most English people at that time.

  • @nicnoc1976 Lol

  • @BashuUp There is no ambiguity on the subject of his race. There are hundreds of portraits of the man. Not to mention that fact that he was King, and therefore we can be quite certain of his ancestry. Stop trolling.

  • @nicnoc1976 Also, Charles' maternal grandfather - King Henri IV of France - was from the South of France and had dark hair and olive skin. He was also known as a lively, cheerful, party-hearty man with lots and lots of mistresses (plus being a very capable and humane king). Charles seems to have taken after him quite a bit. (Unfortunately his brother "Dismal Jimmy" as Nell Gwynne called him, didn't and it all went down the tubes.)

  • @LittleMissMafdet Yes, yes! Henri-Quatre! I love him :) Charlie 2 definitely took after him.

  • @tomizdabest1 They would also have spoke quite differently to this in the 17th century, but I guess they have to modernise the language a bit so that kids can understand.

  • "oh hes got it i dont know what it is but hes got it..I Love him"
