Console versions are missing much of the potential. Even the basic lack of movement and control featured in UT3 PS3/X360 is obvious when compared. The longevity isn't as apparent. Quality user mods have always been a part of the Unreal series; something which console users have little few no choice or may not even be aware of.
It takes less than half the cost of a modern console to upgrade a midgrade pc, enabling it to run any modern game well. If you're on a budget it's better than spending $300-400 for something you'll only use to play games on for three or four years.
Too many advantages/disadvantages on each side to list. Get a console if all you want out of it is games. If you already have a decent PC then there's a whole new platform you could use and continue to use several console generations over at a fraction of the cost.

  • biggest bullshit ive ever herad......... ut3 will not work well on store purchased pcs......... i have an hp elite with a 9800GT graphics card and its from the store i can max out ut3 with 100 fps over

    and crysis with 50 fps...........

  • If I spent $2K on a computer (HP Elite current sale price) it better perform well.

dredlord200, all the hardware is (was 3 years ago) new except an Audigy I had lying around. I spent $800 and it has yet to choke on anything I've thrown at it so far.

  • lol, mine didnt cost 2k it costs 700$ here it was on special it has a 9800GT 1gb single card and an intel core 2 Quad processor Q9300 @ 2.50ghz its cheap..............

  • Not bad considering Q9300+9800GT runs $300.

  • i disagree about having to use a custom built pc u can use a store bought one and just add on to it like i did

  • You can, but be prepared to spend 5x as much for the same performance. Most ppl don't look past prebuilt PCs and those that claim consoles offer more value use this (lack of) knowledge to support their argument.

  • PC beats consoles any day

  • Ye, you can run it on crap hardware such as my PC. If you consider RUNNING it at all an accomplishment. If you are competing to win than an old school PC won't cut it. you can have fun in single player mode with 30 FPS or lower, but anything below 60 fps in multi just sucks ass. 100 FPS preferably. I love how active the map building community is in UT3, :S just so much to test out lol. I've just reinstalled the game. hope to see some of U guys online.

  • old vid but it still has valuable tips. Try to post this vid as answer to other vids

  • @killervalonz nope, friend's 4870 stays at 60 constantly.

  • Simple - It's physX (If you don't have PhysX enabled then i dunno) Because ATI cards without a ppu sucks really hard using PhysX, where Nvidia actually owns Ageia (Guys behind PhysX) So they got it onboard on their graphic cards. Hope it solves it.

  • hey does any1 know how to get custom maps for the pc version?

  • it's pretty frustrating, I have a Q8200 and a HD4890 and at HD resolution I still dip below 60fps on this game when there is a lot of action.

  • what do i have to download to get multiplayer for the pc version please answer
