Shouldve took all that "heavy modifying" money and bought a 350 or ls swap
-
@mattspontiacta Thanks for the common sense to know that 3rd gens are not that heavy and that it was only engine making the vette run away.
-
2nd generation firebirds are heavy 3700-4000 lbs. 3rds and 4th generations are 3500 lbs. The 91 vette is a 250 hp 350ci. If the vette would have been a 92 it would have had the 300hp LT1.
Either way a 350ci vs 305ci , 350 wins.

Ummm why do people seam to think that 3500 lbs is heavy compared to 3300 lbs??. i have an 87 Firebird and in only changing the seats i droped my car to 3422 lbs so firebirds are not tanks they are not heavy. If a firebird had 300 hp even at 3500 lbs it has a better power to weight ratio than a vette with 250 at 3300 lbs. so with that said there is no way that firebird was pushing more than 230hp

lmfao

Newer, bigger motor wins. But I'm still a firebird fan.

why do firebirds have to be sooo damnn heavy
-
The reason the firebird lost was because it had a massive left rear wheel.

@fivestringkilla I agree, "heavily" modified? Try lightly. A LT1 vette should walk away from a L98 car, but a full bolt-on L98 would stomp a LT1 vette until about 130mph or so. Reason being is that a 700r4 will not shift into OD so the F-body will continue to rev in 3rd gear well past its powerpand, and the LT1 will happily sing to 6k no problem
