  • @ersia87 You have to dial in the coffee with a grinder on any machine that is a traditional extraction, such as the Silvia. You cannot use pre-ground coffee with these machines and still get consistent shots. If you want to use preground, pick a model that has pressurized baskets or portafilters (like the Saeco Via Venezia) and you won't need a grinder :) - Kat

  • Hello! I'm looking for an espresso machine to buy for christmas, and I was wondering what it is you mean by being in tune with the grinding with the Rancilio. If I buy, let's say, Lavazza arabica espresso coffee, pre ground; wont that work? Do I have to buy my own coffee grinder? Or can I start by buying pre ground, and then in like half a year invest in a good grinder to improve my shots and knowledge of a good cup of coffee?
