SketchUp plan for my robot hand project I'm working on. There will be five normal sized servo motors and two mini servos. The fifth normal servo is under the translucent round piece for sideways rotation. There are two servos for the first joint because the biggest amount of torque is needed at that point. Maybe I'll find a high-torque servo for that later, dunno, I only have normal ones at hand at the moment.

The whole thing will be controlled with my own servo controller. You'll get more information about that and the robot arm from my website:

The model is made in Google SketchUp 6 and I used a plugin called SketchyPhysics 2 to control the arm. Video is recorded with Camtasia.

  • good but u forgot to make the claw grab things!!!! get rid of the second joint in the arm and add a grabing action

  • Yes AACCAA2211,I do believe it is a plugin.(or not?) Whenever I'm unsure about a process, I message the person that uploaded the video and ask them in a polite way how they carried out a task. They always respond to my inquiry with a polite explanation. If you haven't tried this method yet... why don't you give it a try and see if it works for you. It's your choice though. We all learn at a different pace sometimes. (I hope my post help you get closer to the answer you seek)

    Have a good day.
