  • You make it look all too easy. The amount of money I spent playing this game in the Arcades. You complete the first 4 levels in under 9 minutes! How many years have you practice?

  • About two weeks. Stage 1 to 4 is not difficult. But stage 5 to 8 is very difficult. Remembering all the enemy movements and going to last stage without making a mistake are important. I was able to play this game on TV in house and get this game information by books or TV program. There was not the Arcades in the neighborhood, so I have not played this game in the Arcades.

  • Was this the R-Types that was released for the PS1?

  • No. This game was released for PC Engine CD-ROM in 1991 by IREM Corp. Thank you.

  • what did you record with? it looks so bright

  • I darkened a room and took a movie with my digital camera. So screen looks bright and white. Thanks.

  • i still have the hucard for the turbografx and the graphics are basically the same, however the music of this version is simply amazing.

  • I managed to beat this game through extreme persistence and frustration when it was an arcade game.It is one of my few video game triumphs.I think stages 4-7 are harder than stage 8.

  • your a gaming god! *bows* well done man keep up the good gaming

  • REALLY GREAT and awesome music!but all ppl know what is the best version of R type xD

  • lOVE THE REMIXED RTYPE MUSIC!!!! I could do the robot dance to it! Hehe

  • As yukimatsuri said, this was released for PC-Engine CD-ROM in 1991.

    PS1 R-Types was released in 1998 in Japan, 1999 in the U.S..

Unlike R-Type Complete CD for PCE CD, R-Types for PS1 was a direct port of the arcade versions of R-Type & R-Type II.

Irem Software Engineering totally re-wrote the arcade code for PS1. Aside from resolution differences, they're arcade-exact ports.

  • ugh! the remixed music is awful. maybe it's reflective of the style popular back in those days. it's on a cd but they didn't bother to add back the stuff that was chopped off from the arcade version in the original hu-card b/c of size limitations, like the shrinking force protrusions if you move forward.... parallax scrolling would've been nice too.

  • Irem was a great TG16 PCE developer!

  • The ver you are thinking of is either R-types (R-Type I and II)

    or R-type Delta

Delta sorta failed of play and didn't really sell.

  • What's strange, is that Hudson already made Hucard versions, then, Irem took those versions, put them together for the full game, but, didn't add anything to the levels themselves to improve them, other then cd music.
