The Next series of clips are especially for my good friend Santopec who is a real Kid Ory adept and of course all of the other Kid Ory fans.
It is a second half of the concert. The concert took place at 'Salle Pleyel' in Paris at Oct. 4th 1959.
Kid Ory's Jazz Band -- High Society
Kid Ory
Red Allen
Bob McCracken
Cedric Haywood
William Girsback
Alton Redd
very impressive solos, and also very different in qualities. for example ory's solo is one of the most eloquently syncopated i've heard, while mccracken's is much more "bread and butter" swung eighths and legato which suits the woodwind timbre (the clarinet's attack is longer than the trombone's)

This is an awesome rendition of my favorite "Dixieland" tune. I didn't realize at the time, of course, that I was watching/hearing the end of an era.
This guy can really nail that clarinet solo. Haven't heard anybody this good in a LOOONG time
