Flight Box Paper Airplane Flying Competition
Grand Prize: A Roundtrip Ticket anywhere Midwest Airlines flies*!!!
This competition will test your application of engineering, aerodynamics and creativity by challenging you to construct a paper airplane and compete for the longest distance flight.
Rules for Paper Airplane Contest Making the Planes
• Planes must be made out of a single sheet of 8 _ x 11 standard white copy paper. No colored paper or other type of paper may be used. (no perforated airplane book forms)
• Part of the paper may be ripped or torn off, but scissors may not be used.
• Nothing can be added to the paper such as tape, glue, paper clips, stickers, etc.
• Planes may be colored or decorated (but not with stickers see above).
• Entries must be folded only. Entries that do not follow the above rules will be disqualified. All decisions by the referees are final.
Flying the Planes
• Planes must be launched by hand.
• Trials: Each individual will be scored for the linear distance of a single flight attempt.
• The top 5 distance fliers from trials will compete in a final fly-off.
6:00pm Doors open to make and test airplanes
6:30pm Flight Trials Begin
7:30pm Flight Box Concert Begins
8:15pm Flight Trials and Finals Continue at Intermission
