  • where is Korea? Whole things are Japan's..

  • read below

  • I know what your saying but blame the public masses, the public continue to dumbed down in every sector of society. The client wishes the message to be recog quickly.Creatives constantly try to answer these problems but the ideas get simplified .Actually all the extras except the Gaisha Girl were S Korean.Of course budget is an important factor

  • ITVs 1998 titles were better

  • which one were those?

  • Sadly, us Brits generally know nothing about S. Korean culture other than "they eat dogs". And that's not really going to make it into something like this is it?

  • I Love these titles, really well executed! I remember the end logo being different but actually prefer this one. Viker you have some really nice work on your page.

  • the African intro was way better

  • Doesn't seem like 10 mins ago never mind nearly 10 years!

  • @kisbie

when comes 2022 qatar world cup we don't know qatar culture so do not make opening???

    you say strange thing

  • only japanese culture haha where is korea culture???

this is korea / japan world cup!!! hahaha

  • BBC's opening was better

  • Got any of those "another World Cup first from Travelex Foreign Exchange" bumpers?

  • I love this music, One Fine Day or Un Bel Di , comes from Puccini's Opera Madame Butterfly. He based this opera on a Japanese story, which is why they chose it. I think its a great opening sequence..ITV tends to show more cultural aspects of the hosting nation/nation(s) in their opening titles, I've noticed, which is why I prefer them most of the time to BBC's.Also, they needed several stadiums, and as Japan and S. Korea had 10 each, it probably made sense to join together to make this happen.

  • @wontonsipodhelp The eating dogs thing - however rare it might be - is about all we know that seems interesting, really. Being technologically advanced and wealthy isn't enough to give a country a distinct identity. For whatever reasons, Japan has more about it that a general British audience would recognise as 'Japanese'. Also, North Korea is perversely more fascinating because of their regime.

  • @HarrietC123 The final choosing for the World Cup was between Korea and Japan. They didn't want to start a fight or arguement and just did a co-host type of World Cup.

  • @kisbie Even the Korean people think eating dogs are disgusting. It's not common to eat dogs. We have Samsung and LG. We are in the G20. We have far more advance in technology just as Japan.
