I don't think you should spank your children. That's just MY oppinion! It dipends on how you want to raise your child. But you are the role model so if you cause them pain your only making matters worse for yourself. You should talk to your child first and you should still punish them but there maybe a limit between punishing and child abuse but there is ALSO a limit between punishment and simply harming your child.

Here is a question:
what about the parents that WANTs their kids to drink or smoke in their house & not with strangers/friends...so they'll know what their kids r doing & who they r with. that bugs me, get upside both that child and da parents' head. that is so wrong on so many levels!

I love the way my mom discipline my big sister and I... we were not bad kids but needed our butt hit from time to time. My sis was the one that took the beating for what the were ( you did something that mom didn't like so do better) me on the other hand had a soft-heart, i got more out of our talks (for her to tell me i did something that displeased her would hurt me more than any belt in da house) ***that & she would take my tv & stuff away too.

@trina755 yea see i was more like you and my brother was more like your sis but i think that he got so many whippings early on in life that they had little effect on him as he got older.

@Timaya lol. yea I love my drink hun! just a spoonful of liquor helps the medicine go down... or is it sugar helps the medicine go down? Maybe I have had a little too much to drink! Lol. oh well.

in todays world beating is a no, no thats not going to work. i didnt get a lot of beating but in the west indies, in the past beating was standard based on bible teaching. The issue is a concious issue we know now that children live what they learn, discipline starts when a child is young and rules have to laid down early. You are right, yelling, shouting wont work. Many parents start too late and then they try to fix things with anger.

@MedlynMartin I'm with you all the way on that sweety. If you don't start teaching them right from wrong when they're young, you won't succeed at breaking the bad habits and behaviors you have allowed them to form.
