on central avenue near u-n-m today-- demonstrating against corporate greed. they really snarled traffic. stuart dyson was there for the action and he's here now with what happened. stu. okay - it was central avenue - not wall street - and michael moore and susan sarandon didn't show up - but today's event did harmonize and tie in with the protest that's been going on for two weeks in new york city. " who's street? our street! who's street? our street!" the
So, let me get this straight. The OWS movement is centrally opposed to huge corporations who's ceo's practice economic strategies that can severly limit the ability of middle class Americans to get a "leg up" in the job market, or hinder their ability to market ideas without being shut out by unfair regulations rooted in corruption?
If that's the case, why do protesters support multinational conglomerates by purchasing their closing, electronics, and vehicles? Self defeating? HMM...

@brscth (2) If you are offering those kind of jobs great good for you for doing that. However you will find people to fill those positions. Unless you can give a job to 9.1% of the entire US population (14 million people) and that is not including the under employed (part time workers 9.3 million people) people who have hade their hours cut back and needed some kind of employment.(Dept of Labor Bureau of Statistics) Then perhaps you should look into why people are protesting.

Ok I'll tell you what. You show me evidence that ALL the people in the country and the world involved in these protests are just lazy and don't want to work. And I will agree with you. Until then you are making a broad accusation about a large number of people. Are there people in the world that don't want to work? YES. It's called society a mix of people with different values. The "lazy" People are just a tiny sliver of the population. Many of the people in these protests have jobs or want job

@willweeverlearn You hear want you want and display your ignorance. I offer jobs at a decent pay and benefits such as medical, dental and 401k is offered after 90 days. I watch these people with my own eyes turn down decent jobs and take the unemployment. That is reality which you chose to ignore because you either refuse to face reality, or you are one of these fools who would rather smoke a joint and protest something you know nothing about. I am done with you, run along.

@brscth I hear you saying: I offer these people crap jobs for crap pay and no benefits and they don't want it? Well I am certain not all of the people will not work as you claim as many are driven by desperation to work in those situations. It still does not address the grievences of the protesters. If I were you I would look into why these people all over the country and in fact all over the world are protesting. You might find it has very little to do with your assumption that they are lazy.

@brscth First let me say it is obvious no matter what i say it will go unheard. So 1 last time protests accomplishments are based on how much attention you draw to your cause. With every person who is intrigued by, led to action by, and yes even angered by the exposure to the protests cause. That is 1 more person talking about it whereas before the protests those same people would not be aware or talking about it. I can not make it any more clear than that.

@willweeverlearn I see countless people walk away from work because they say they would rather collect unemployment. I have spent days at the workforce centers watching people apply for benefits while pretending that I am not offering work. So again, what did this protest accomplish? These people are nothing more than fools with more time on their hands than common sense. I have jobs to give, they don;t want them plain and simple.

@brscth "annoying those who are trying to get to work" It sounds like you are the minority of people. From what I seen was support from people in their cars. If you do not understand that a protest is MEANT to get peoples attention sorry. IT DID. As far The job thing perhaps you are unaware that the US is in a reccession for the last 4 years. You have no idea what those people have tried to do for themselves you just assume to make yourself feel better about your position.

@willweeverlearn So if you make the news by annoying those who are trying to get to work you have accomplished something? Show me a copy of a job application these people filled out and I might be impressed, until then it looks like nothing more than a bunch of spoiled college kids who have not worked a day in their lives making fools out of themselves.
