This is one of my all-time favorite movies, thanks to Richard Farnsworth who portrayed Alvin Straight in such a subtle and heartfelt way that it moved me to tears and literally made my heart ache...

Enjoy the video, and please leave a comment letting me know why you did or didn't like it. That way you will either make me very happy (I love reading comments), or help me improve my editing skills. :o)

Music: Marcelo Zarvos - Reprise

Cast:
Richard Farnsworth (Spartacus, Anne of Green Gables)
Sissy Spacek (In the Bedroom, Stephen King's Carrie)
Harry Dean Stanton (Paris Texas, Wild at Heart, Alien Autopsy)

Look at closely at Farnsworth's face...the history of 20th century America is written there. He personifies that which is best about America: quiet strength, guts, gritty determination, compassion, honesty, and self-reliance. May he rest in peace.

Absolutely wonderful movie. Everything in it is beautiful. The story, the landscape, the music, but especially the face of Richard Fainsworth, and the very moving last part. Can't keep my eyes dry, it touches the very depth of my soul.

This is soooo beautiful... The faces of the old men at the end of this video, the landscape, the music, the things that aren't spoken but are there all the way. I must see this movie! The beautiful is not vanished, thank god.

I have immense respect for David Lynch and his work. I use to be a huge fan of his more abstract works ie: Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, etc but as I get older and I see loved ones pass away a new ones come into being I'm left yearning and identifying with emotional situations. I have to admit I wish Lynch would direct more "human" stories that relate to the heart I find some of my favorite films dealing with emotion have come from him. ie Straight Story and Elephant Man.

This movie moved me to tears and literally made my heart ache too. I wish to know Mr. Farnsworth and Mr. Stanton someday. Take a coffee and a apple pie with them and learn more about life, love to the next and peace. Maybe one day at heaven !!!!!!!!

A big hug fellow guy !!!
